When we talk about our team, collectively we are talking about all the referees who help us, the management group that keeps things operating smoothly and also, all the schools, clubs and associations that rely on us to keep the games running.
Without input from all of these people, the wheels are not going to turn smoothly. Collectively this is a lot of people needed to make it happen and that’s why communication is so important. As a group we are all trying to provide a great experience for all the players, coaches, referees and families that ultimately support the sport of basketball in our community.
DID YOU KNOW THAT BASKETBALL WAS INVENTED BY A CANADIAN?
It was originally played using two apple crates nailed to a wall, and of course, a ball.
Which begs the question – when did run time and stop time become part of the game, and did they require referees? Or was it a gentlemen’s game and fair play was expected?

Who make it all possible by taking time from their busy schedules to come out and support all the basketball players and coaches in our community. For many, this is after a busy day at their full-time job, and sacrificing time with their families.
Doran Clark – Digital Content with Ball & Whistle Inc..
Aside from being busy with two boys who have played basketball in Calgary since they could stand, he owns two businesses, as well as being involved with a couple of online creative agencies. He has also played the game through high school, college and mens league, referees, in addition to coaching grassroots through to mens league.
Adam Clark – Social Media & PR Coordinator
Adam brings a wealth of on court experience to our team, having played basketball through junior and senior high school, as well as with community and club ball. Adam is a 3rd year student at U.of C., and is an invaluable addition to our leadership team.
In case you haven’t noticed, the interest in playing basketball is growing exponentially in the greater Calgary area. For that matter, it’s become a worldwide phenomenon with young people across the globe discovering the game.
We are very happy to support basketball by ensuring that the game is played safely, fairly and by the book. Most of our officials come from a background of playing, coaching and now refereeing the game. They love the game and want to do their part to ensure it’s played by the rules.
