SUPPORT / FAQ’s

If you are interested in refereeing at a junior high or higher level, please contact us using our Sign-up page or link.

We expect that our junior referees have at least gone through an introductory  refereeing program, or equivalent, as well as refereeing for a couple of seasons with community league games.

Officiating games at a junior high school level has it’s challenges and requires a certain skill level beyond that of a rookie referee.

We do have a development program that helps referees transition from community basketball to Junior High level of basketball.

We look forward to working with you in helping to provide a safe, fair and enjoyable experience for everybody who is playing, coaching, watching and refereeing basketball in your community.

SEE YOU ON THE COURT!

We are an organization whose focus is to provide quality basketball referees for Junior High level and older. If you have some experience with basketball as a player and would like to explore the possibility of refereeing, please contact us. We can definitely set you on the right path to becoming a basketball referee.

We do offer several clinics through the year, and a development program with senior referees that will provide a means to build your confidence on and off the court. We also invite all returning referees to sign-up through our Sign-up portal, if they want to work on their skills.

Our on-court development program will help individuals who have some refereeing experience, but need to build their skills and confidence level. Working as a team will elevate everybody’s skills and provide a better experience on the court. By mentoring each other, establishing guidelines, goals and ethical procedures, we as a team want to provide a great environment in which the game of basketball can be played.

On court, our referees use the FIBA rules for gameplay, and as an organization we have a moral and ethical code which we follow to provide the best game experience possible. On or off the court our referees work as a team. They are encouraged and supported by an organization that works hard behind the scenes to make it all happen.

Our scheduling system is by school, date & time, and whether games are league games, exhibition games or tournament games. As a member of our group you can access our schedule through the Members Only area, and request available games.

Once we have filled all of our game assignments, and responded to all the requests from referees, we hope we can minimize the weekly changes to schedules, to reduce our workload, and provide some breathing room for unexpected requests.

Referees, please help us out here, by requesting locations and times that you can work that will require the minimum amount of change over the course of the season. Please keep in mind that once you are assigned a court, you will be expected to referee all the games on that court for the duration of the evening. This could be up to 4 games.Tournament schedules and weekend games will require that you be available through the day as well.

Referees will be compensated at rates that reflect their level of knowledge and skill, as well as the level of game.  In some cases like tournaments, game rates will be determined by our agreement with the organizers. Referees will be informed prior to the start of the season what they can expect for compensation for regular season games.

We are anticipating be able to pay our referees on a monthly basis, and will finalize the details as we approach the start of the season.

As always, if you have any further questions, we can always be contacted to help you. Please send us an EMAIL and we will do our best to answer any further questions.

THANK YOU!
