SEASON END EXHIBITION GAME

Post Archives

Thanks to Heather and all the gang at Clearwater Academy, we had an opportunity to be involved in an exhibition game between the Clearwater senior boys and girls teams, and the Calgary Stampeders football club.

Yes, you read that right, a football team, playing basketball. Let me tell you about a little known secret, these guys are very good athletes and for many elite athletes they had opportunities to play one of several sports, and in this case they chose football.

That doesn’t mean that they are not good at other sports, and in this case five Calgary Stampeders put up a very good showing against a much more numerous Clearwater team. They actually won the game by a few points.

Anybody that has played, coached or refereed basketball, knows that it’s a game where size matters, and the Stampeders did not disappoint. A couple of these guys were close to 6 1/2 feet, and as solid as  mighty oaks.

The Clearwater cheerleading squad is looking very small standing with the Stampeders. Judging from the expressions on everybody’s face, they were definitely having a great time.

We really can’t think of a better way to finish off the season with a great community builder event.

Thanks so much Heather, and everybody else at Clearwater who pitched in!
